This is a unique feature that is technically possible, but never offered. The idea is that someone sending a fax to a number that does both faxes, and voice will collect for a fax before sending it as a voice call. When sending a fax, the service will pick up, and listen for a fax tone. If it hears the fax tone, it will collect the fax, convert it to a .pdf file, and email it to the customer. The customer’s phone does not ring at all, nor is voicemail activated.
If it is a voice call, the caller will call the number, and there will be a 2 second delay as the system listens for a fax tone. Since there is no fax tone, the caller and recipient will hear the phone ring. It is now up to the customer to answer the call or send to voicemail. if a voicemail is left, then the customer will be notified of new voicemail. You will select or de-select the eFax option on each number in the account.
