SIP Broker Calling

SIP Broker is a service that makes it easier for inter-carrier calling. Every service provider is given a unique SIP Broker code that will be prepended to the SIP number for that carrier. For example, the SIP Broker code for Callcentric is *462. To call the test number, you would dial 17771234567. These two things are important to make a SIP Broker call

Making a SIP Broker Call

To make a SIP Broker call, you would prepend with 111, and omit the * before the SIP Broker Code. Therefore to call the above number, you would dial 111 462 17771234567. This is a little different than dialing a standard telephone number which is why the dial access code of 111 must be used to make the SIP Broker call.

Receiving a SIP Call

All customers will get a SIP number which they can provide to colleagues, family, or friends. This will always be the telephone number @pcs1.ws. Therefore, if I had my personal cellular phone number with my phone service (and why not?), then my SIP address will be sip:14126829751@pcs1.ws. PCS 1 will also work with SIP Broker to acquire a dial access code. This will allow customers using SIP Broker to make SIP calls to reach a PCS 1 customer.
