SIP Broker Calling

SIP Broker is a service that makes it easier for inter-carrier calling. Every service provider is given a unique SIP Broker code that will be prepended to the SIP number for that carrier. For example, my SIP Broker number is *462 (Callcentric) 17772603465 (Number provided by Callcentric to ring to me). Therefore, one will likely have to enter a code to let the provider know they wish to make a SIP Broker call, and dial *462 17772603465 to reach me.

Making a SIP Broker Call

To use my phone service to make a SIP Broker Call, the caller will dial 111 (SIP Broker Carrier Code) + Phone number. Therefore to dial my number, they will simply dial 111 462 17772603465. Since 111 is not used in the US for any special code calling, this makes for a great substitute. This can be done with either a Home Line, or a Cellular Line.

Receiving a SIP Call

All customers will get a SIP number which they can provide to colleagues, family, or friends. This will always be the telephone number @fsp.phone. Therefore, if I had my personal cellular phone number with my phone service (and why not?), then my SIP address will be 14126829751@fsp.phone. Obviously, right now, there are no .phone domains, so I am choosing this fake domain as an example. Also, my phone service will apply for a SIP broker dail code to allow any supporting carrier to reach out to my customers.
